TKB is a veteran-owned and operated company founded on legacy, but before we get to that here is a little bit of my background and the background of TKB.

Way before TKB was even an idea it all started when I was a kid growing up in Southeastern Idaho where I learned how to hunt and fish from my father and the lessons he learned from my grandfather. Unfortunately, I never really got to know my grandfather because he passed away when I was too young to remember him. After learning many of life’s lessons from my father he gave me a single gift that would put the idea of TKB in the back of my mind and put everything in motion. I was given my grandfather's hunting knife, after hearing story after story about my grandfather and hearing time and time again that he wished he would have loved to be out fishing or hunting with us if he were still here he became a legend in my eyes. My father served in the United States Air Force and upon completing his service to our country he spent a lot of time with my grandfather hunting and fishing and it was the stories of these trips that shaped how I viewed my grandfather's legacy. Growing up I would have given anything to have been able to have been there on the trips my father told me about and when I was given my grandfather’s knife it instantly became my single most valued possession. To anyone else it would have just been another knife that had seen better days but to me it was a way for me to carry on his legacy every time I got to use it.

Fast forward a few years and I became friends with Trevor Weiszhaar working rodeos and getting into trouble in our highschool years and upon graduating highschool I chose to follow my father’s footsteps and joined the United States Air Force and Trev became a mechanic. Throughout my service I had a unique opportunity to become a Missions Intelligence Coordinator and to work very closely with the Remotely Piloted Aircraft community, conventional, coalition and special forces, contractors, agents, and various agency partners in conducting operations to eliminate terrorists and protect boots on the ground. I loved the mission. I was blessed to be able to support and be able to contribute directly to preventing America’s enemies from being able to operate and conduct attacks on American soil or our forces down range. During my service I was lucky enough to get picked up for a deployment to Afghanistan after volunteering nearly my entire enlistment for the opportunity to go down range. Once I got home I was able to continue to support combat operations through Remotely Piloted Aircraft operations for several years. After completing my assignment me and my wife started looking towards a new future outside of the military and after talking to Trev we decided to start TKB to be able to make the best quality hand made American hand tools we could and the rest is history.
